Water Service Technician

The position of a Water System Technician is a leadership role that requires both the ability to work independently as well as work with and direct members of a crew. This position requires the capacity to follow instructions, address unforeseen circumstances, and have a willingness to both learn the skills directly associated with the position as well as perform work that may not seem to relate specifically to the position title. Water System Technicians need to communicate with customers concerning the installation and maintenance of their control systems and as such are expected to be capable of effective, respectful, and professional communication.

A Water System Technician is expected to assist the Operations Manager in any required tasks, including but not limited to, performing irrigation system repairs and installations, supplying materials to job sites, operating heavy machinery, reading and understanding a project plan, and installation of irrigation controllers and pump stations. In this position one will be introduced to new field related technologies and types of agriculture. Some of these include automation, hydraulics, horticulture, and different tools. Water System Technician work a regular schedule from 6:30am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday with the potential for additional hours in the case of an emergency (If available). Work sites may be in a variety of locations island wide. A valid driver’s license, vehicle, and the capacity to drive to various job sites is required. Use of personal vehicles will be reimbursed as required by law. Water System Technicians will be required to perform manual labor such as digging and gluing pipe. This means that one must be capable of lifting 80 lbs, be willing to get dirty, and be able to work in low or semi-restricted spaces for extended periods. During initial employment, heavy supervision will be in place to ensure appropriate training and safety practices. Following Sufficient training, a Water System Technician will have limited direct supervision and will be responsible for appropriate conduct and independent completion of tasks. One who excels in the position and acquires the necessary skills in management, communication, and site operations will have the potential to rise to an Operations Manager position in time.

Salary: $18.00 to $21.00 /hour
